Visa Guide – Hunan University of Chinese Medicine (HUTCM)

International students admitted to HUTCM must obtain an X1 Student Visa before traveling to China. The university will issue the necessary admission documents, including the Admission Letter and JW202 Visa Form, after successful admission.

Step 1: Receive Admission Documents

After your application is approved, HUTCM will provide:

  • Official Admission Letter
  • JW202 Visa Application Form
  • Pre-arrival instructions

These documents are required for your Chinese student visa application.

Step 2: Prepare Visa Documents

Prepare the following documents for submission to the Chinese Embassy or Visa Application Center:

  • Valid Passport (minimum 6 months validity)

Step 3: Apply for an X1 Student Visa

Students enrolled in the MBBS program (more than six months) must apply for an X1 Student Visa at the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in their home country.

What is an X1 Visa?

The X1 Visa is issued to international students pursuing long-term studies in China. Since the MBBS program at HUTCM lasts six years, all admitted MBBS students must obtain an X1 Visa before arrival.

Step 4: Travel to China

After receiving your visa:

  • Book your flight to Changsha, China.
  • Inform the HUTCM Admission Office of your arrival details.
  • Airport pickup assistance may be arranged by the university.

Step 5: Registration at HUTCM

Upon arrival, students must submit:

  • Original Admission Letter
  • Original JW202 Form
  • Original Academic Documents
  • Passport
  • Physical Examination Report
  • Passport Photos

The International Education Institute will complete your enrollment and orientation procedures.

Step 6: Residence Permit

The X1 Visa is generally valid for entry and must be converted into a Residence Permit within 30 days after arrival in China. HUTCM assists international students with the residence permit application process.

Important Tips for Pakistani Students

  • Apply for the visa immediately after receiving the JW202 form.
  • Ensure all documents match your passport exactly.
  • Keep multiple copies of your admission documents.
  • Carry original documents in your hand luggage when traveling.
  • Do not enter China on a tourist visa if your purpose is full-time study.
