New dreams start from No. 300 Xueshi Road. Our school’s 2024 freshmen are enrolled

As the golden season arrives and dreams blossom, Xinglin welcomes another energetic new semester. On September 7, more than 6,000 undergraduate and graduate students of the Class of 2024 came to our school with expectations and aspirations, blooming their youth and embarking on new dreams on the lush campus.

The south gate of the school opens its arms to welcome the arrival of new students; teachers, students and parents check in and take photos in front of the “Welcome New Students” display board; on both sides of the Welcoming Avenue, the welcome service stations of each college are lined up; wherever new students report, you can always find enthusiastic volunteers to guide the direction, answer questions, and welcome the arrival of the “new family”.

Like the September sun warming the heart

In September, the sun shines on every corner of the campus, and the joy of new students is in the air. At 9 a.m., Party Secretary Dai Aiguo, Principal Yi Gangqiang and all the school leaders at home visited Hanpu Campus and Dongtang Campus, had cordial exchanges with new students and their parents, took photos, and visited and comforted the staff and volunteers.

The school leaders visited various places where freshmen register, study and live. At the welcome service station, they had cordial conversations with freshmen who were going through the admission registration procedures, asking about their hometowns, majors they studied, and future plans. In the finance hall, they learned in detail about the “green channel” handling and the implementation of student aid measures. In the freshman dormitory, they were concerned about the students’ registration and sleeping procedures and accommodation conditions. In the cafeteria of the Dongtang campus, they inspected the environmental hygiene and food safety… The family-like care is as warm as the September sun.

Dai Aiguo expressed his gratitude and affirmation to all units for providing warm and thoughtful services to the new students and their parents, and on behalf of the school, he extended a warm welcome and sincere greetings to all the new students. He said that the new student orientation work involves all units and departments of the school, and is a systematic project. It is not only an important test for the improvement of the school’s comprehensive service capabilities, but also an important window to show the school’s educational effectiveness to the society. All departments should attach great importance to it, work closely together, strengthen responsibility, enhance service awareness, and ensure that the new student orientation work is carried out smoothly and orderly with a high sense of responsibility and a rigorous and meticulous style. We should start from the subtleties and focus on the details to fully demonstrate our school’s educational level and educational environment, and truly make the new students feel comfortable and the parents feel at ease.

Freeze the beautiful “new” encounter

On the welcoming avenue, there are various ways to “pamper” the new students, with constant surprises. Besides participating in the new student registration, teachers, students and parents will choose to take beautiful photos to freeze the beautiful encounter.

On the display board created by the Propaganda and United Front Work Department of the Party Committee of the school, the names of 4,897 undergraduate freshmen came into view. The school leaders happened to meet the student reporter group of the Media Integration Center who were conducting interviews for the opening of the school. The protagonists of the interview were two “super-predestined” graduate students – the youngest graduate student and the oldest graduate student, who were 28 years apart in age. The 18-year-old Yi Bingqing said that hard work is never limited by age, and young people should have lofty ambitions. She hopes to receive more professional and systematic learning in school and work hard in the nursing field in the future. Zhou Yi, 46, graduated from undergraduate clinical medicine and worked in health management. She lamented that the holistic view and health preservation concept of traditional Chinese medicine are very attractive. She likes traditional Chinese medicine and Chinese traditional culture very much. She hopes to improve herself through postgraduate studies and learn more systematically about traditional Chinese medicine knowledge and culture. The school leaders said that the stories of the two classmates are very inspiring. Because they love traditional Chinese medicine and met on the campus of Huzhong University, they are all young dreamers. They look forward to everyone striving to be the inheritors of traditional Chinese medicine culture that upholds the integrity and innovation.

This year, the school opened a nine-year program of clinical medicine of traditional Chinese and Western medicine for the first time. All 15 students in this major wrote a letter “to myself nine years later”, each word of which expressed their expectations and commitments to their study in Xinglin. At the welcome site, these 15 youthful promises formed an exhibition board that carried ideals. Freshman Shi Xiaonuo and her parents came to the exhibition board to check in. She said that it was a very special experience to go out far away for the first time and live alone in school. I hope that I can perform better on the road of studying medicine, treat my studies with a rigorous and serious attitude, get along well with classmates and friends, discuss medical knowledge together, and after graduation, I can use the benevolence of a doctor to protect the health of patients.

This year marks the 90th anniversary of the founding of the school. More than 200,000 students have graduated from Huzhong University, empowering the inheritance and development of traditional Chinese medicine and the high-quality development of social economy. 34 years ago, the parents of Jiang Wenyi, a freshman in the School of Pharmacy, were also Huzhong University students. 34 years later, she and her parents became alumni, and they came to their alma mater to report and tour the campus. Her parents praised that there was only the Dongtang campus back then, but now the alma mater has two campuses, with a larger area, a better environment, and more majors. It is thriving and very proud. Jiang Wenyi said that her parents’ love for the medical industry has had a profound influence on her. She also hopes that she can learn Chinese medicine well and practice “inheritance from one line and passing on the torch” with practical actions.

Xinglin Yiban prepared special cultural and creative night lights and fans for the freshmen, which were full of thoughtfulness; the School of Nursing ingeniously set up a cultural and creative blind box lottery session, which was full of surprises; the mascots of the First Clinical College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the “Faith, Use, Love” boy and the admission gifts, cast the soul of youth; the alumni company Hunan Huacheng Biological Resources Co., Ltd. donated “Village Super” cola, which was sweet and thirst-quenching…

Yi Gangqiang said that welcoming new students is the “first lesson” for freshmen entering the school, the “first step” for freshmen to start a beautiful campus life, and an important part of showing the school’s image and humanistic care. All colleges and student organizations have created a welcoming scene with distinctive styles and characteristics, creating a youthful, positive and enthusiastic welcoming atmosphere. He hopes that all departments will continue to strengthen coordination and linkage, grasp the progress and quality of school infrastructure construction, and provide comprehensive services for freshmen to quickly integrate into new life, adapt to the new environment, and transform into new roles.

Build our Xinglin “home” together

The morning light shines softly. At 7 a.m., at transportation hubs such as the South High-Speed ​​Railway Station and Changsha Railway Station, welcoming teachers, students and volunteers hold signs that read “‘Xing’ is glad to meet you!” “Welcome freshmen!” “Huzhong University, here I come!” and guide the freshmen to board the school’s exclusive welcoming vehicles to start the “first stop” of freshman registration, which is full of “new” and “affection”.

On the front line of the campus welcome, staff and volunteers are devoted to the welcome work with the greatest enthusiasm and the most high-spirited attitude, from sunrise to nightfall, from campus guidance to consulting services, from luggage handling to formalities handling… Their busy figures can be seen everywhere on campus; “Do you need help?” “Let me help you with your luggage!” “I’ll take you to the registration location!” Clear greetings echoed in the warm campus. “Volunteer service is very heartwarming! It made my journey from entering the school to registration very smooth.” Zhang Yuchen, a freshman from the School of Medicine, said with a smile, and expressed his anticipation for starting college life. Many volunteers rushed back and forth between the dormitory and the registration location, their clothes got wet and dry, dry and wet, but they were still passionate and stayed at their posts to smooth the way for the new students to register.

This year, the school implemented the dual combination of online payment and electronic receipts for the first time. Students can pay tuition and miscellaneous fees through WeChat and Alipay. After students pay the tuition and miscellaneous fees in full, payment receipts will be automatically generated and electronic fee receipts can be downloaded online. The school has opened a “green channel” for payment. Students from poor families can temporarily defer tuition through student loans or other related applications. There are a total of 3,125 students in our school who have applied for student loans from their hometowns, and 812 freshmen have applied for student loans from their hometowns. The Student Financial Aid Management Center has prepared love gift packages for 200 freshmen from families with financial difficulties. Freshmen only need to scan the QR code to go through the check-in procedures, and the registration-related materials will be delivered directly to the dormitory without having to carry them by themselves…

The train of youth has arrived, and the horn of struggle has also been blown. At the new starting point of “No. 300 Xueshi Road”, youth is given dreams, forging ahead and shining. I believe that in the days to come, the freshmen of Class 2024 will ride the east wind of the times at Hunan University of Chinese Medicine, break through the waves, and set sail from now on!
